Softball Recap: Florence Has No Trouble Against Palmer

Florence's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Palmer Terrors as they made off with a 17-4 win. Considering the Huskies have won six contests by more than ten runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Kendra Steffenson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in September of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and three RBI.

In other batting news, Lilly Roe was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, seven RBI, and two stolen bases. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brooklynn McMahon, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs.

Florence always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .679. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Florence's victory bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Palmer, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Florence will host Alamosa at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Palmer, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mitchell at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Marauders have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 18.5 runs per game on average), something the Terrors will no doubt try to take advantage of.
