Softball Recap: Basalt Has No Trouble Against Aspen

Basalt's game on Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They blew past the Aspen Skiers 22-6. That looming 22-6 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Longhorns yet this season.

Jenna Ostberg made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Ostberg was even better at the plate, going 3-for-5 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three doubles. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in October of 2024.

Basalt kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in eight consecutive matchups.

Basalt's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-9. As for Aspen, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.

Coincidentally, Basalt and Aspen will both be playing Montezuma-Cortez the next time they take the field. The Longhorns will host the Panthers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Skiers will host them at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
