Leading Chaparral to victory were Maya Ford and Zetta Faasua. Ford dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds, while Faasua dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds. Faasua has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Sydney Ford, who scored six points along with two steals.
The victory got Chaparral back to even at 10-10. As for Murrieta Mesa, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost ten of their last 12 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chaparral's road trip will continue as they head out to face Temecula Valley at 5:30 p.m. on January 24th. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Sienna Fergerson and Faasua. As for Murrieta Mesa, they will head out on the road to take on Murrieta Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Murrieta Valley has five straight wins, Murrieta Mesa has seven straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
