After a string of three wins, the Edgewood Bulldogs's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 56-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hawkins. While losing is never fun, Edgewood can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 707th, while Hawkins is ranked 264th).
It was another big night for Derek Hollman, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 rebounds for Hawkins. Hollman has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last 12 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Boston Conner, who scored six points along with six rebounds and six steals.
Edgewood's defeat dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Hawkins, the victory was the 13th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Edgewood will take on Lone Oak at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hawkins, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against McLeod at 7:30 p.m.
