It was a good run, but the California Lutheran C-Hawks unfortunately witnessed the end of their 12-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 45-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of United Christian Academy. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as California Lutheran came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 225th, while United Christian Academy is ranked 556th).
California Lutheran's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kiera Schroeder, who scored 16 points. Schroeder scored a full 40% of California Lutheran's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Allison Schroeder was another key contributor, scoring ten points.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. California Lutheran will take on La Sierra Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. United Christian Academy won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Sherman Indian at 5:00 p.m. on January 12th. Sherman Indian's defense has only allowed 25.2 points per game this season, so United Christian Academy's offense will have their work cut out for United Christian Academy.
