The Valley Forge Patriots's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their seventh straight loss. Their rough 62-36 loss to Normandy might stick with them for a while. Valley Forge has not had much luck with Normandy recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Valley Forge's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gracie Kercher, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds. Kallie Yeager was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Normandy found their leader in underclassman Lindsay Meriwether, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Meriwether has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ziley Minich, who scored 19 points along with two steals.
Valley Forge bumped their record down to 1-11 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Normandy, the win got them back to even at 6-6.
Valley Forge will be playing in front of their home fans against Cloverleaf at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Cloverleaf focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 last Thursday. As for Normandy, they will head out on the road to take on Steele at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Steele presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Normandy in Ohio (Steele is ranked 182nd, while Normandy is ranked 437th).
