The Van Nuys Wolves came tearing into Saturday's game with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29.2 points) and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on Vaughn with a sharp 57-31 win. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 29-8.
When it comes to explaining why Vaughn lost, one person who can't be blamed is Andrea Cervantes. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 15 points and 10 rebounds. The match was Cervantes' sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Yamileth Ferreira, who scored 10 points along with 6 steals.
Van Nuys' victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Vaughn, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Van Nuys will face off against Kennedy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Kennedy is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. Vaughn is on the road again on Monday and play against Sherman Oaks CES at 3:30 p.m. on December 11th. Hopefully Sherman Oaks CES focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Thursday.
