Tussey Mountain's win on Tuesday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Karah Husick, who posted six points along with six assists and three steals. That's the most assists Husick has posted since back in December of 2023. Adyson Weyandt was another key player, putting up seven points along with five boards and three steals.
Tussey Mountain smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in nine consecutive games dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, Claysburg-Kimmel was able to grind out a solid win over Curwensville on Tuesday, taking the game 49-38.
Claysburg-Kimmel's win came from a few key players Tussey Mountain will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Bailey Tipton, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten boards. She is becoming a predictor of Claysburg-Kimmel's success: when she posts at least eight rebounds the team is 2-1 (and 1-2 when she doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Zailee Bush, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 boards.
Tussey Mountain's victory was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.8 points per game. As for Claysburg-Kimmel, their win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-3.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Tussey Mountain has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 26.7 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Claysburg-Kimmel struggles in that department as they've been averaging 33.8 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
