On Friday, Sutter was beaten by Ponderosa 61-21. Sutter was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-8.
When it comes to explaining why Sutter lost, one person who can't be blamed is Torrence Harter. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 14 rebounds and 13 blocks. Harter is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lainey Davis, who scored three points along with five rebounds.
Sutter's defeat dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Ponderosa, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-6.
Sutter will head out on the road to face off against Marysville at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Marysville has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Ponderosa will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Placer at 7:30 p.m. on January 10, 2024.
