Orestimba is 10-0 against Denair since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Orestimba Warriors will be playing in front of their home fans against the Denair Coyotes at 7:00 p.m. Orestimba is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last seven games.
Orestimba put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Gustine 60-15 on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Orestimba has posted against Gustine since January 14, 2020.
Orestimba can attribute much of their success to Jenessa Gonzalez, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and six steals, and Olivia Gray, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals. Gonzalez hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Ashlynn Bell, who scored four points along with nine steals.
Denair suffered their closest loss yet this season on Tuesday. They fell just short of Waterford by a score of 38-35. Denair has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the defeat, Denair had strong showings from Macie Stucker, who scored nine points along with four steals and three blocks, and Cloey Ellerd, who scored 13 points along with seven steals. That's the first time this season that Stucker posted two or more blocks.
Orestimba is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season. As for Denair, they bumped their record down to 6-13 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Tuesday's match is shaping up to be a scrappy matchup: Orestimba have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 34 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Denair, though, as they've been averaging only 21.1 rebounds per game. Given Orestimba's sizeable advantage in that area, Denair will need to find a way to close that gap.
Orestimba strolled past Denair in their previous matchup on January 2nd by a score of 35-18. Does Orestimba have another victory up their sleeve, or will Denair turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
