Mt. Diablo is 0-4 against Northgate since April of 2016 but things could change on Tuesday. The Red Devils will head out to square off against the Broncos at 4:30 p.m. Mt. Diablo has given up an average of 13.8 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Mt. Diablo fell victim to Las Lomas and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 15-0 to the Knights, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.
Meanwhile, Northgate came tearing into Thursday's contest with three straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Bears as they made off with a 15-3 win. The Broncos not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since March 14th (when they won 19-2).
Brandon King looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
On the hitting side, Northgate got a big performance out of Andres Zaragoza Roberts, who went 2-for-5 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Shane Malloy, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Northgate kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in seven consecutive games.
Northgate's record is now 14-6. As for Mt. Diablo, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-11.
Mt. Diablo's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's matchup. The Red Devils have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Northgate, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Mt. Diablo continue to outrun the ball?
Mt. Diablo might still be hurting after the 27-0 loss they got from Northgate in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Can the Red Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
