University Prep hasn't had much luck against Riverside Prep recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Jaguars will host the Silver Knights at 3:15 p.m. University Prep is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.2 runs per game this season.
On Friday, University Prep made easy work of Big Bear and carried off a 14-3 win. Considering the Jaguars have won ten games by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Angel Herrera made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
In other batting news, University Prep got a massive performance out of Baxter Andersen, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Randy Pereira, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs and one double.
University Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Big Bear only posted an OBP of .345.
Meanwhile, Riverside Prep waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 6-5 W against the Giants. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Silver Knights have posted since March 26th.
Eddie Frausto was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Wilkes, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Riverside Prep's win bumped their record up to 14-10. As for University Prep, their victory bumped their record up to 18-2.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. University Prep hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .362. However, it's not like Riverside Prep struggles in that department as they've averaged .387. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
University Prep might still be hurting after the 25-1 defeat they got from Riverside Prep in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can the Jaguars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
