It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Pacheco Panthers ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They secured a 53-47 W over Gustine. That's another feather in the cap for Pacheco, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Pacheco was led to victory by Ryan San Pedro and Jeanette Ortiz. San Pedro scored 22 points along with seven steals, while Ortiz scored eight points along with 25 rebounds and seven assists. Ortiz set a new season high mark in steals with seven.
Several Reds players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Alexis Gallichio, who scored 15 points. The contest was Gallichio's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn Jackson, who scored 14 points.
Pacheco is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season. As for Gustine, they have fallen quite a ways from their 17-8 record last season and are now at 1-2.
Pacheco won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Central Valley at 7:15 p.m. on December 14th. Central Valley is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. Gustine will be home for the holidays to greet Buhach Colony at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
