The King-Chavez Community Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their 11th straight loss dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a rough 49-4 loss at the hands of Coastal Academy. King-Chavez Community was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 26-4.
Heiress Afalava was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 24 points and 13 rebounds for Coastal Academy. That makes it three consecutive games in which Afalava has scored at least a third of Coastal Academy's points. Another player making a difference was London Afalava, who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds and three steals.
King-Chavez Community bumped their record down to 0-2 with that loss, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. As for Coastal Academy, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. King-Chavez Community will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Monarch at 3:45 p.m. on January 23rd. As for Coastal Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Foothills Christian at 4:30 p.m.
