Bishop Carroll dropped down to 17-8 on Thursday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Maize Eagles by a score of 7-6. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-3 back in April.
Judd Blasi and Harrison King stepped up to the plate in a big way. Blasi went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double, while King went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Brock Thompson, who got on base in both of his plate appearances with two runs.
As for Maize, the win (which was their 21st in a row) raised their record to 24-2. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games.
On Maize's side, Quincy Koehn looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. Koehn has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
