The team relied heavily on Luke Moxley, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of RJ Wells, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, Citizens Christian Academy got the win against Westwood on Thursday by a conclusive 10-2. Considering the Patriots have won 14 contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Thomas Gentry and Jonathan Rutland were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Gentry struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Meanwhile, Rutland struck out six batters over two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). Gentry has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. At the plate, Gentry went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double, while Rutland went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Gray McLean was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Tyson Crosby, who earned two runs and three stolen bases.
Citizens Christian Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .346 or higher in three consecutive matches.
Citizens Christian Academy pushed their record up to 21-7-2 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Vidalia Heritage Academy, their record is now 16-13.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Vidalia Heritage Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Citizens Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 5.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
