St. Monica extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 2-5-1. They fell 9-6 to the St. Anthony Saints. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Saints this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 on Tuesday.
Andres Olmedo was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season. Joey Parra was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run.
As for St. Anthony, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-2-1. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On St. Anthony's side, Aidann Ruiz and Anthony Valdez made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Ruiz pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Meanwhile, Valdez tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Ruiz has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. At the plate, Ruiz went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Valdez went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI. Those three hits gave Ruiz a new career-high.
In other batting news, Jason Glenn and Nick Galluccio did most of the damage at the plate: Glenn went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI, while Galluccio got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. That's the most RBI Glenn has posted since back in March of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Marc James, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
Coming up, St. Monica will face off against North at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. The Saxons' pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so the Mariners' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for St. Anthony, they will take on Artesia at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
