De La Salle is 9-1 against Foothill since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. De La Salle will welcome Foothill at 4:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as De La Salle comes in on four and Foothill on three.
While De La Salle's win against Dublin wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. De La Salle never let Dublin get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory on Wednesday.
Not much got past Graham Schlicht, who gave up just two hits and racked up six Ks to keep Dublin off the board. What's more, Schlicht gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024.
At the plate, De La Salle saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Gray, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI. That RBI was Gray's first of the season.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Foothill and Dougherty Valley, and Foothill kept the tradition alive. Foothill put the hurt on Dougherty Valley with a sharp 7-0 win on Wednesday. The Falcons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by seven runs or more this season.
Take Sato-Kreis tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on George Schmitt, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Hudson Flora, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
De La Salle's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Foothill, their win bumped their record up to 9-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. De La Salle has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Foothill struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
De La Salle took their victory against Foothill in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 28-2. Does De La Salle have another victory up their sleeve, or will Foothill turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
