Sealy extended their winning streak to five on Friday, bumping them up to 5-0. They blew past the Needville Bluejays 42-21. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Tigers' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 102nd, while the Bluejays are ranked 230th).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sealy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Romeo Castillo, who picked up 33 receiving yards and one touchdown, and also rushed for 53 yards. Another pass catcher making a difference was AJ Cepon, who picked up 30 receiving yards and a pair of scores.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Sealy's defense and their four sacks. Isaiah Dukes-Self was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself. As for Needville, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. They haven't had much luck with Sealy recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.
Needville's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kobie Campbell, who rushed for 143 yards and one TD. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Hall, who threw for 204 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Sealy and Needville will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next contests. The next time the Tigers see the field they'll take on Bellville at 7:30 p.m. on October 10. As for Needville, their break will end when they face Navasota at 7:00 p.m. on October 10.
