Etna has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Modoc Braves at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Etna will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 832nd, while Modoc is ranked 283rd).
Etna suffered their biggest loss since November 30, 2023 on Tuesday. They took a serious blow against Fall River, falling 82-44. Etna has struggled against Fall River recently, as their game on Tuesday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Modoc has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 42-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of Weed on Tuesday.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Julianna Minto, who scored two points along with eight rebounds and six blocks. She hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Katie Erquiaga, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Etna has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season. As for Modoc, their loss dropped their record down to 12-6.
Etna came up short against Modoc in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 35-29. Can Etna avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
