The El Capitan Vaqueros won the last time they faced the Santana Sultans, and things went their way on Friday too. El Capitan came out on top against Santana by a score of 60-47. The victory made it back-to-back wins for El Capitan.
El Capitan's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Andy Novelo-Gerardo, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 21 rebounds. Novelo-Gerardo is absolutely dominating the block category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Jason Wilson was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with two steals.
El Capitan is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which lines up perfectly with their 15-5 record this season. As for Santana, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-12.
El Capitan will head out on the road to face off against Grossmont at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Grossmont is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. Santana will take on Mount Miguel at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mount Miguel presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Santana in California (Mount Miguel is ranked 410th, while Santana is ranked 994th).
