The Weslaco Panthers put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their undefeated season alive. They claimed a resounding 35-7 win over Rivera at home. The result was nothing new for Weslaco, who have now won four games by 21 points or more so far this season.
Weslaco had a senior duo take command as Elias Rodriguez jr rushed for 83 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries and Andres Sepulveda threw for 46 yards and two touchdowns.
Weslaco's win was their fifth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-0. As for Rivera, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Weslaco will take on Hanna at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hanna comes in on a streak of failing to score more than ten points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Rivera, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Harlingen at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Harlingen presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Rivera in Texas (Harlingen is ranked 447th, while Rivera is ranked 1013th).
