Chaffey is 2-8 against Don Lugo since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. Chaffey will square off against Don Lugo at 3:30 p.m. Don Lugo took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Chaffey, who comes in off a win.
Having struggled with three losses in a row, Chaffey turned things around against Diamond Ranch on Friday. They came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 11-6. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Tigers' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Jaden Resendez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in earned runs (zero). He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ernesto Hernandez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Chaffey's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 2-5 when he doesn't). Harlan Gomez was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-5.
Don Lugo had taken Chino down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Friday. Don Lugo came up short against Chino, falling 12-3.
Don Lugo also got a good showing from Julian Perezchica, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Perezchica has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Austin Brown was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he launched this season. Another player making a difference was Nolan Chavez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3.
Don Lugo has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. Chaffey's record is now 4-6.
Chaffey took their win against Don Lugo when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 9-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Chaffey since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
