After flying high against the Thomas A. Edison Owls on Monday, High School of the Future came back down to earth. The matchup between High School of the Future and West Philadelphia wasn't particularly close, with High School of the Future falling 49-30. While losing is never fun, High School of the Future can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 422nd, while West Philadelphia is ranked 162nd).
Despite the loss, High School of the Future still got an impressive performance from Jahanna Mitchell, who scored 15 points. Mitchell scored a full 50% of High School of the Future's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Mouye Tall was her usual excellent self, scoring 14 points along with six rebounds and four steals for West Philadelphia. Those four steals set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Naeemiah Bridgeford, who scored 12 points along with eight steals.
High School of the Future's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for West Philadelphia, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. High School of the Future will face off against Paul Robeson at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Paul Robeson will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. As for West Philadelphia, they will head out on the road to face off against Murrell Dobbins Vo-Tech at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
