Gladstone and The Dalles are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2023, but likely not for long. The Gladiators will host the Riverhawks at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Gladstone barely beat Estacada the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Gladiators blew past the Rangers 8-1 on Friday. Considering the Gladiators have won nine games by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Meanwhile, The Dalles can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. Everything went their way against Madras as they made off with a 13-7 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Riverhawks considering their two-run performance the contest before.
Evan Ortega made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off eight hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. He has become a key player for The Dalles: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 8-10 otherwise.
In other batting news, Joel Ortega and Hunter Bustos did most of the damage at the plate: Joel went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Bustos went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs Bustos has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Kale Beardmore, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Gladstone's win bumped their record up to 17-10. As for The Dalles, their victory bumped their record up to 13-10.
Gladstone couldn't quite get it done against The Dalles in their previous meeting back in April as they fell 5-2. Will the Gladiators have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
