The Mar Vista Mariners came into Wednesday's matchup having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They pulled ahead with a 33-32 photo finish over Castle Park. The victory was just what Mar Vista needed coming off of a 61-26 defeat in their prior contest.
Mar Vista's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Allyson Bell led the charge by scoring 16 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Bell has scored at least a third of Mar Vista's points. Aaliyah Temcho was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Mar Vista's win bumped their record up to 5-11. As for Castle Park, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-17 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mar Vista will take on the Red Devils at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Sweetwater is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home. As for Castle Park, they will head out on the road to face off against the Firebirds at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
