The Santa Paula Cardinals will venture away from home to square off against the Fillmore Flashes at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Santa Paula's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Fillmore's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Santa Paula is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Carpinteria a 12-0 shutout on Friday. The victory was nothing new for the Cardinals as they're now sitting on three straight.
Colin Dominguez made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI.

In other batting news, Aaron Gonzalez was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Isaiah Flores also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Santa Paula always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Fillmore earned a 4-0 win over Nordhoff on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Flashes.
The result came thanks to Thomas Alamillo's shutout, as he gave up just four hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Fillmore is 4-2 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 3-7 otherwise.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jacob Renteria, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.
The victory got Santa Paula back to even at 9-9. As for Fillmore, their record now sits at 7-9.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Santa Paula has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Fillmore struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Santa Paula's way against Fillmore in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Santa Paula made off with a 7-0 win. Will the Cardinals repeat their success, or do the Flashes have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
