Surprise Valley has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Butte Valley Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
While it was all tied up 18-18 at halftime, Surprise Valley was not quite Burney's equal in the second half on Thursday. Surprise Valley was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 37-36 to Burney.
Despite the defeat, Surprise Valley got a solid performance out of Elizabeth Lopez-Rangel, who scored 17 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lopez-Rangel has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Rylee Arreche, who scored six points.
Meanwhile, Butte Valley unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak last Wednesday. They took a 32-24 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hayfork. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Butte Valley has scored all season.
Surprise Valley has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season. As for Butte Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 8-4.
Surprise Valley came up short against Butte Valley in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 50-37. Can Surprise Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
