Kaden Osenkowski made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double. That double was his first of the season.
Osenkowski wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Matthew Chofay, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Jonathan Kent also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Burrillville came out on top against Ponaganset on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run sixth inning. The Broncos never let the Chieftains get on the board and left with an 8-0 win. The Broncos might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by seven runs or more this season.
Like Prout, Burrillville also got a great game from a two-way player: Cam Laramee. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. Laramee has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Jordan Furtado and AJ Escalera did most of the damage at the plate: Furtado went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Escalera went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Zack Laplume was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Burrillville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.
Prout's record now sits at 5-6. As for Burrillville, their record is now 7-4.
Prout might still be hurting after the 10-4 loss they got from Burrillville in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Crusaders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
