With a playoff game on the line, the Whitesboro Bearcats rose to the challenge on Friday. They pulled ahead with a 35-34 photo finish over Jim Ned. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Whitesboro's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Karter Sluder, who picked up 108 receiving yards, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground. Sluder was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield for a catch that went for 65 yards. Brett Donaldson also helped out as he racked up 107 receiving yards.
Jim Ned's loss came despite strong showings from Brayden Shipman and Trey Hicks. Shipman rushed for 102 yards and two touchdowns, while Hicks rushed for 97 yards and two touchdowns.
The win makes it two in a row for Whitesboro and bumps their season record up to 6-5. As for Jim Ned, their defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-3.
Whitesboro will take on Bushland at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Bushland's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last six matches. Jim Ned does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
