After a string of four wins, the Heritage Christian Warriors's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 68-67 to Whittier Christian. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Tuesday (59), Heritage Christian still had to take the loss.
Jatniel Cabrera continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Whittier Christian, scoring 36 points along with eight assists and five rebounds. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Cabrera has scored at least 25% of Whittier Christian's points. Zoe Sanborn was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Heritage Christian's loss dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Whittier Christian, their win bumped their record up to 12-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Heritage Christian will face off against Village Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Village Christian presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Heritage Christian in California (Village Christian is ranked 20th, while Heritage Christian is ranked 497th). As for Whittier Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Valley Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Valley Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Friday.
