While losing is never fun, Banning can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1062nd, while Yucca Valley is ranked 239th).
When it comes to explaining why Banning lost, one person who can't be blamed is Symora Prince. Despite the final result, she scored 20 points. Another player making a difference was Maryanne Palacios, who scored eight points.
Banning has been struggling recently, as they've lost 11 of their last 14 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season. As for Yucca Valley, they pushed their record up to 21-4 with that victory, which was their eighth straight at home.
Banning will take on Coachella Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Yucca Valley, they will head out on the road to square off against Cathedral City at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
