While losing is never fun, Bella Vista can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 849th, while Antelope is ranked 90th).
Bella Vista's loss came despite strong showings from Ellie Thome and Mackenzie Dean. Thome scored 17 points along with two steals, while Dean scored four points along with five rebounds. That was a full 63% of Bella Vista's points, marking the ninth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Antelope's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tiana Spain, who scored 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Michelle Rice, who scored 16 points.
Bella Vista has been struggling recently, as they've lost 13 of their last 15 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-17 record this season. As for Antelope, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bella Vista will take on River Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. River Valley is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak. As for Antelope, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Yuba City at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Yuba City focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Thursday.
