Baseball Recap: Valley Oaks CES Comes Up Short

Valley Oaks CES made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Triumph Charter, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Wildcats fell just short of the Jaguars by a score of 7-5 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Wildcats have suffered since April 9, 2025.

Andre Zuniga was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Zuniga was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Zuniga is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

In other batting news, Miguel Hernandez was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Valley Oaks CES has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Triumph Charter, their win bumped their record up to 9-5.
