King's Academy is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Wednesday. They will host the Sequoia Ravens at 4:00 p.m. King's Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
On Saturday, King's Academy came up short against Christopher and fell 5-2. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Taiyo Petersen was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in May of 2025. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs.
In other batting news, Justin Cho made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Sequoia ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They walked away with an 11-7 victory over Santa Teresa. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Ravens.
Like King's Academy, Sequoia also got a great game from a two-way player: Mario Fausto. On the mound, he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off seven hits. Those six strikeouts gave Fausto a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Morgan Winfield, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one home run and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Connor Murray, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.
Sequoia lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Sequoia's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for King's Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. King's Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Sequoia struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
King's Academy skirted past Sequoia 6-5 in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Do the Knights have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Ravens turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
