Basketball Game Preview: Currituck County Knights vs. Hertford County Bears

Currituck County is 0-10 against Hertford County since February of 2020 but things could change on Tuesday. The Currituck County Knights will be playing at home against the Hertford County Bears at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Hertford County is hoping to do what Perquimans couldn't on Tuesday: put an end to Currituck County's winning streak, which now stands at three games. Currituck County strolled past Perquimans with points to spare, taking the game 69-54.

Jamie Dance and Matthew Vaughn were among the main playmakers for Currituck County as the former dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten boards and the latter went 8 of 15 on his way to 19 points. Those 19 points gave Vaughn a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tristan Peterson, who posted six points and three steals.

Currituck County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in four consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Hertford County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 79-67 hit to the loss column at the hands of Wayne Country Day. One positive for the Bears, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Currituck County's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Hertford County, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.
