The Brockway Rovers will be playing at home against the Johnsonburg Rams at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Brockway suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Saturday. They were dealt a 55-19 loss at the hands of Coudersport. While losing is never fun, Brockway can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 488th, while Coudersport is ranked 241st).
Despite the defeat, Brockway saw an underclassman step up: Sophia Schmader scored nine points along with nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, Johnsonburg's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They were outmatched by St. Marys at home and fell 52-25.
Brockway has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season. As for Johnsonburg, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.
Brockway came up short against Johnsonburg in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 51-46. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Johnsonburg's Maria Casilio, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds. Now that Brockway knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
