On Saturday, the Georgetown Day Mighty Hoppers faced the Banneker Bulldogs in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Georgetown Day walked away with a 49-36 win over Banneker. The win made it back-to-back wins for Georgetown Day.
Georgetown Day's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cai Roberson, who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. Roberson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Nevaeh Roberson, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds.
Georgetown Day has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. As for Banneker, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-6.
Georgetown Day will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Madeira at 5:45 p.m. Madeira will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 188th in Virginia, while Georgetown Day is ranked first in District of Columbia). Banneker on the road again on Monday and play against School Without Walls at 5:30 p.m. on January 22nd. School Without Walls has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
