Cameron County is on a three-game streak of home losses (dating back to last season), Otto-Eldred a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. The Cameron County Raiders will be home for the holidays to greet the Otto-Eldred Terrors at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Last Tuesday, Cameron County came up short against Austin and fell 45-35.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Ava Hilfiger, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Trinity Earle, who scored six points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Otto-Eldred's 25-3 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They took a 37-27 hit to the loss column at the hands of Oswayo Valley on Tuesday.
Like Otto-Eldred, they lost despite seeing results from several players. Ayla Van Scoter led the charge by scoring ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Carrie Drummond, who scored four points along with four steals.
Cameron County now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Otto-Eldred, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.
Friday's match is shaping up to be a scrappy game: Cameron County have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 30.7 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Otto-Eldred, though, as they've been averaging only 25.7 rebounds per game. Given Cameron County's sizeable advantage in that area, Otto-Eldred will need to find a way to close that gap.
Cameron County was taken down by Otto-Eldred 67-24 in their previous meeting back in January. Thankfully for Cameron County, Katie Sheeler (who dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
