The Bishop McCort Crushers will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Bishop Carroll Huskies at 6:00 p.m. Bishop McCort will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.
Last Monday, in a tight matchup that could have gone either way, Bishop McCort made off with a 53-52 win over Greater Johnstown. Given Bishop McCort's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 25th, while Greater Johnstown is ranked 209th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bishop McCort's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elle Berkebile, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Berkebile has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Gianna Gallucci, who scored 21 points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Bishop Carroll was able to grind out a solid win over Bedford on Monday, taking the game 61-51.
Bishop McCort's victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-0. As for Bishop Carroll, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a massive bump to their 8-10 record this season.
Bishop McCort strolled past Bishop Carroll when the teams last played back in December of 2023 by a score of 54-38. Does Bishop McCort have another victory up their sleeve, or will Bishop Carroll turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
