The University Prep Jaguars will face off against the Hesperia Christian Patriots at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. University Prep is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.
University Prep will bounce into Tuesday's match after beating Excelsior Charter, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Jaguars were the clear victors by a 16-4 margin over the Eagles on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Jaguars.

Randy Pereira made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Pereira was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 1-for-4. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Baxter Andersen and Ricky Gonzalez did most of the damage at the plate: Andersen went 4-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Gonzalez went 2-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Gonzalez has become a key player for University Prep: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-4 otherwise. Connor Byrom was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
University Prep lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Hesperia Christian might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 18-1 to Riverside Prep, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The loss continues a trend for the Patriots in their meetings with the Silver Knights: they've now lost four in a row.
Nathaniel Renner made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.
University Prep's victory bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Hesperia Christian, they now have a losing record of 7-8.
Hesperia Christian's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: University Prep hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .406. It's a different story for Hesperia Christian, though, as they've only averaged .256. Will they be able to contain University Prep's hitters?
University Prep might still be hurting after the 11-1 defeat they got from Hesperia Christian in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can the Jaguars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
