The Clearfield Bison scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Bellefonte 78-51 on the road. Given Clearfield's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 212th, while Bellefonte is ranked 576th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Sonny Diehl was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 32 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Mia Helsel, who scored 15 points along with eight assists and five rebounds.
Clearfield has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. As for Bellefonte, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-18.
Clearfield will be playing in front of their home fans against Bishop Guilfoyle at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Clearfield focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Monday. As for Bellefonte, they will head out on the road to square off against Central at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Bellefonte is coming into the contest with nine straight losses on the road, meaning Central will have to defend against a squad hungry for a victory.
