While it was all tied up 28-28 at halftime, the Pinecrest Patriots were not quite the Scotland Fighting Scots's equal in the second half on Tuesday. Pinecrest took a 48-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Scotland. Pinecrest has not had much luck with Scotland recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Pinecrest's loss came despite strong showings from Zymire Spencer and Javion Saunders. Spencer scored 11 points along with six assists and two steals, while Saunders scored 11 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of London Ravenell, who scored four points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Jaquez Caldwell was his usual excellent self, scoring 21 points along with five rebounds and two steals for Scotland. Caldwell continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Shyland Harrell was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Pinecrest has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-6 record this season. As for Scotland, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-8.
Pinecrest will be playing at home against Hoke County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Scotland, they will head out on the road to take on Lee County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Lee County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Tuesday.
