Lassen is 8-2 against the Miners since December of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Lassen Grizzlies will head out on the road to take on the Yreka Miners at 6:00 p.m. Lassen is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
Last Friday, Lassen had to suffer through a rough 68-40 loss at the hands of the Cubs. While losing is never fun, Lassen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 687th, while the Cubs are ranked 305th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Mili Crosno, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and two blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Kinley Somerville, who scored nine points along with five steals.
Meanwhile, Yreka pushed their score all the way to 64 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to West Valley 69-64. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Yreka in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now lost five in a row.
Lassen has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-15 record this season. As for Yreka, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-14.
Lassen couldn't quite finish off the Miners in their previous matchup back in January and fell 60-57. Can Lassen avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
