Forest Park had lost three straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 8-13 to make it four. They came up short against the M.L. King Lions, falling 19-3. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.
Forest Park saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Andy Barredo, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Another was Carmello Turner, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases.
As for M.L. King, they moved to 13-8 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 contests by six runs or more this season.
On M.L. King's side, Kaleb Scott and Brandon Ray were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Scott tossed 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Ray pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. At bat, Scott went 3-for-5 with one home run, seven RBI, and two runs, while Ray got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI. M.L. King is undefeated when Ray posts two or more stolen bases, but 7-8 otherwise.
In other batting news, Ryan Ford was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2025. Evan Fulks was another key player, getting on base in two of his five plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
While Forest Park had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
