West Covina is 0-10 against Charter Oak since March of 2019 but things could change on Monday. The Bulldogs will be playing at home against the Chargers at 3:30 p.m. West Covina will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
On Thursday, West Covina made easy work of Wilson and carried off a 10-1 win.
Gavin Betancourt was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Austin Nguyen was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Charter Oak, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Covina on Thursday, sneaking past 5-3. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Charter Oak also got a great performance from Marcus Reese as he didn't allow a single earned run over 5.1 innings pitched. Reese has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Joaquin Cervantes, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Charter Oak: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 7-11 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Martin Luna, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
The victory snapped Charter Oak's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 9-12 record. As for West Covina, their win bumped their record up to 16-10.
West Covina couldn't quite finish off Charter Oak in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 and fell 3-1. Will the Bulldogs have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
