Make it seven blowout wins for the Grassfield Grizzlies this season. They breezed by Tallwood on the road to the tune of 61-11 on Monday. Given Grassfield's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 66th, while the Lions are ranked 376th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Grassfield's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lauren Priester, who scored 11 points along with four steals. Priester is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kennedy Reid, who scored ten points along with four steals.
Grassfield has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. As for Tallwood, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-17.
Grassfield won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th. King's Fork will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Tallwood, they will stay at home for another game and welcome the Chiefs at 7:00 p.m. on January 31st.
