Baseball Recap: Kelseyville Now 10-1 over Last 11 Games

Kelseyville won the last time they faced Middletown and things went their way on Friday too. The Knights put the hurt on the Mustangs with a sharp 14-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won ten matches by ten runs or more so far this season.

Carson White was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. White was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Kyle Watkins was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Max Hommer, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Kelseyville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .519. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Middletown only posted a batting average of .118.

Kelseyville is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Middletown, they dropped their record down to 4-11-1 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kelseyville will square off against St. Helena at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Saints' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Knights' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Middletown, they will face off against Lower Lake at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mustangs are facing the Trojans at the right time seeing as the Trojans are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
