On Tuesday, things could have been worse for Sonora, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 67-51 loss to Clovis East. While losing is never fun, Sonora can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 243rd, while Clovis East is ranked 88th).
When it comes to explaining why Sonora lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kiana Graham. Despite the final result, she scored 22 points. Those 22 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Liana Hwang, who scored nine points along with eight steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Sonora and nudges their season record down to 5-3. As for Clovis East, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season.
Sonora is on the road again on Thursday and play against Downey at 8:00 p.m. on December 14th. As for Clovis East, they will square off against Portola at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
