In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, Friendship Collegiate Academy made off with a 59-58 victory over Banneker. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
When it comes to explaining why Banneker lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jeremiah Shelton. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Shelton is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games he's played. Justin Cave was another key contributor, scoring six points along with ten rebounds and four steals.
The win makes it two in a row for Friendship Collegiate Academy and bumps their season record up to 6-11. As for Banneker, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Friendship Collegiate Academy will take on Paul Public Charter International at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in District of Columbia (Paul Public Charter International is ranked 29th, while Friendship Collegiate Academy is ranked 23rd). As for Banneker, they will be playing at home against Dunbar at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
